A monumental fresco in Méribel: immersion in the heart of Alpine emotion

At Métamorphoze, each project is an encounter between art, architecture and the soul of a place.

Our recent achievement for the resort of Meribel, in the majestic French Alps, is the perfect illustration of this:

A monumental mural of more than 600 m², hand-painted, to transform the experience of skiers, snowboarders and hikers.

A large-scale project carried out for the Compagnie des Alpes, celebrating the Olympic spirit and sporting excellence while offering a total sensory immersion.

Mission

Creating an immersive passage for the Roc de Fer tunnel

Bringing a tunnel to life: an exceptional artistic challenge

The Meribel ski tunnel is huge.
This space, used daily by thousands of visitors, connects mythical tracks, including:

  • The Olympic track, a legacy of the Winter Games

  • The Women’s World Championships track, a symbol of performance and elegance

Our mission was simple in appearance, but demanding in reality:

Transforming this transitional space into a vibrant and unforgettable visual journey.

We designed an immersive 360-degree mural, enveloping walls and ceilings, so that each passage through the tunnel becomes an emotional experience.

Total immersion: the fresco in all its details

For this XXL fresco, we developed a tailor-made graphic concept, inspired by:

  • The speed of alpine descents

  • The majesty of the snow-capped mountains

  • The energy of international competitions

Our artistic choices:

  • Dynamic speed effects to transmit the momentum of skiers

  • Stylised mountain villages to recall Savoyard authenticity

  • Snowflakes delicately drawn on walls and ceilings to add poetry

  • Ice blue and intense pink color palette for a visually powerful and modern rendering

Each graphic element has been designed to prolong the feeling of gliding and immerse visitors in the alpine world.

A hand-painted fresco: the demands of the gesture

Creating a monumental fresco of 600 m² entirely hand-painted is an artistic and technical feat:

  • Precision work in the millimetre despite the colossal size

  • Adaptation to the constraints of the tunnel architecture (curvatures, volumes, light)

  • Management of perspective effects to maintain the fluidity of the gaze in motion

Each brushstroke has been carried with a desire for excellence and authenticity, so that the energy of Méribel is palpable in each passage.

Why a fresco in a ski tunnel?

Because a tunnel can be much more than just a functional passageway.
Because art transforms spaces and amplifies the lived experience.

In Méribel, this fresco:

  • Strengthens the station’s identity with visitors

  • Builds a sense of local pride around the Olympic legacy

  • Creates a lasting memory for every skier, hiker or local

  • Enhances the resort’s premium image with the Compagnie des Alpes and international partners

It is also a strong testimony:

Méribel is a resort that dares to combine sporting performance, artistic excellence and emotion.

The rendering: a tunnel transformed into a living work

In the end, the Méribel tunnel is no longer a simple connecting corridor.
It’s:

  • A corridor of emotions for athletes

  • An Instagrammable setting for tourists

  • A graphic tribute to the most beautiful pages of Alpine history

The fresco captures the light, accompanies the movement, and infuses a unique energy.

The result: a place where we stop, where we marvel, where we remember.

Our signature: giving a soul to places

At Métamorphoze, each project is driven by this conviction:

Creating places that we love means giving them an identity, a history, an emotion.

We believe that wall art is not just decoration.
It is a powerful tool for:

  • Enhancing spaces, sites, ski resorts

  • Stimulating emotions

  • Federating communities

In Méribel, we were lucky enough to collaborate with a passionate, visionary team, committed to excellence… and to contribute to writing a new page in its visual history.
